About Jackson Irish Dancers

Since 1998, Jackson Irish Dancers has brought classes, performances, and Irish dance events to Mississippi and beyond. Under the direction of Catherine Sherer Bishop, MFA, TCRG, we perform, teach, and sometimes even compete from Ireland to Dallas and from New Orleans to Memphis – and especially right here at home in Mississippi’s capital city. We’re not focused on competition like many Irish dancing schools; instead, we do this for the craic – in Irish, the god fun of it all. Our members enjoy all kinds of Irish dancing, from the up-on-your-toes Riverdance-style solo dance to the casual fun of céilí dancing, sets, and sean-nós (old-style) dance.

With a great local community of musicians and venues, we get on the dance floor often — come join us! We offer classes for adults and kids (ages 12 and up), occasional workshops and master classes, and plenty of casual get-togethers to learn some dancing. You can book us to dance or teach at your festival, school, church, or club; and you can catch our performance group onstage.
